The Art of Selling: Diary of
a Naked Salesman
by Espen Holm
Every once in a while a book comes
along that is destined to make a significant difference
on the way sales people think about sales. This is one
such book.
'Dairy of a Naked Salesman' is a story about an ambitious
sales person called Joey Bluewater who aspires to be
'Sales Person of the Year' for his company even though
his results to date have been very disappointing. Joey
has also been struggling in his love life and the story
is very clever in helping the reader make connections
between developing personal relationships and customer
relationships.
As with any good story, you can take almost any learning
you want to from the book as it covers a wide range
of issues related to the art of selling or what we refer
to as 'the mental game'. It is particularly relevant
to consultative selling, relationship selling and the
power of storytelling in influencing and motivating
others. There are plenty of books that focus on technique
and 'how to'. This book covers the more important philosophies
and the 'why to'. We are happy to recommend this book
as it fits very closely into our company message that
technique will only get you so far. The real progress
is made through developing the 'mental game'.
